An investigation by Pimpri Chinchwad police has revealed that it was a dispute during a Dandiya function last year that led to the murder of a youth in the Chikhali area on Monday.
Krushna alias Sonya Haribhau Tapkir, 21, a resident of Mahadev Nagar in Chikhli, was shot dead around 1.30 pm on Monday. The attackers then fled on a motorcycle. Tapkir was rushed to a hospital but doctors pronounced him dead.
The police confirmed that Tapkir was murdered by his friend Saurabh alias Sonya Pansare and his aide Siddharth Kamble, who are residents of Khed. The police said they were allegedly upset because the victim was gaining fame in the Chikhali area which prompted them to conspire and kill him.
Tapkir’s uncle Rajendra Kailas Karle, 38, a resident of Chandus village in Pune’s Khed taluka, lodged the first information report (FIR) at the Chikhali police station. As stated in the FIR, the accused had a quarrel with Tapkir during a Dandiya function held at Patil Nagar last year. They harboured a grudge against him since then, police said.
Officers have booked the accused under sections 302, 120B of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Indian Arms Act. Teams have been formed to arrest the accused, the police added.
