MADURAI: Karumuttu T Kannan, chairman of the Meenakshi Temple trustees board and eminent industrialist, died here on Tuesday morning. He was 70 and died after a brief illness.
Kannan had been the chairman (thakkar) of the temple trustee board for the last 18 years and instrumental in bringing out various infrastructure developments at Meenakshi Amman Temple.
Kannan was the son of industrialist and philanthropist Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiyar and Radha. He was heading Thiagarajar Mills and was the chairman of Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai.
He was survived by his wife Uma Kannan, son Hari Thiagarajan and two daughters. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon.
