Taxi driver from Raj found ‘murdered’
Ludhiana: A taxi driver who came to Ludhiana from Alwar in Rajasthan was found dead on the driving seat of his taxi outside a restaurant in Sahnewal area. Some passersby saw the body and informed the police. Later, Sahnewal police approached the travel agent in Rajasthan who owned the taxi. The kin of the deceased alleged it to be a murder as blood was emitting from the mouth of the deceased.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanwant Singh Bablu (44). Acting on the statement of his brother Paarth Singh Yadav, Sahnewal police registered a case against unidentified accused under Sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (Act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
Paarth said his brother worked as a taxi driver for a travel agent Rajinder of his village. On April 18, he had left for Ludhiana on a Maruti Suzuki Brezza (HR-26-CZ-3644) . On April 20, Paarth got information from Rajinder that Bablu’s body has been found in the taxi.
He said Bablu’s body was on the driving seat of the taxi and blood was emitting from his mouth. He suspected some unidentified accused had beaten Bablu to death.
Inspector Inderjit Singh, SHO, Sahnewal police station, said the police have registered a murder case on the basis of the statement of the family and initial circumstances in which the body was found. However, the doctors who conducted the autopsy have not cleared the cause of death yet and have sent viscera samples for examination. The police will further proceed after receiving the viscera report.
