Officials intercepted the woman who was later identified as an east Bengaluru resident who had flown to Thailand from KIA on Friday.
When the suspect failed to give convincing answers on her short visit to Bangkok, officials frisked her to find something unusual about her legs. They examined her calves and found Kinesio’s medical tapes pasted to both the legs. They removed it to find pieces of gold weighing 503 grams. Examination revealed that she was also carrying a crude gold chain weighing 198gram.
Man hides bangle in sleeve
On Saturday afternoon, customs officials at KIA nabbed a 41-year-old man who arrived in an IndiGo flight from Bangkok wearing an unusually covered full sleeve shirt.
Investigators intercepted him soon after he disembarked from the plane and headed to clear immigration procedures. They lifted the left-hand sleeve to find a fat silver-coated kada (bangle) he was wearing in the hand. A thorough examination revealed that it was made of solid gold and coated in rhodium to avoid detection by authorities. He was nabbed and the kada weighing 499.9 gram estimated to be worth Rs 31.2 lakh seized.
