Xavier, Purdue to meet in Gavitt Games in West Lafayette, per reports


The Xavier Musketeers are scheduled to face the Purdue University Boilermakers at Mackey Arena in the 2023 Gavitt Games between Big East and Big Ten teams, according to multiple reports.
Jon Rothstein wrote for collegehoopstoday.com that an official announcement and game dates and times are to be determined, but the matchups are as follows:

The Boilermakers finished last season with a 29-6 record overall, 15-5 in the Big Ten. A No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, Purdue was upset by No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round in Columbus.
XU and Purdue last met in 2012 at Mackey, with the Muskies winning 63-57. The Muskies also won previous meetings with the Boilermakers in 2011 at Cintas Center, 2008, 2005 and 2002. The 2008 meeting was a second-round NCAA tournament game in Washington, D.C. The 2005 meeting was in Indianapolis.
Xavier lost to Purdue's archrival, Indiana, at Cintas Center in last year's Gavitt Games. The Musketeers defeated Ohio State at Cintas the previous year.
Earlier this month, Sycamore High School's Raleigh Burgess, a Class of 2024 forward center, committed to Purdue. He had offers from XU, Cincinnati and many others.
XU is expected to open the 2023-24 season against Robert Morris on Nov. 6.
Per reports, XU is expected to headline the Continental Tire Main Event with San Diego State, Washington and a yet-to-be-determined fourth team at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, also in November. And Jacksonville is expected to visit Cintas Center in November.
Xavier confirmed it will host Houston in December in the Big East-Big 12 Battle. Winthrop reportedly is expected to visit in December.
