Ludhiana: Sadar police booked a man and his 25 accomplices for kidnapping his tenant, following a dispute over the possession of the
house. The victim alleged that the accused also stole valuables from the house.
An FIR has been lodged against Manjit Singh of Punjab Mata Nagar and his unidentified accomplices on the complaint of Rajnish Verma of Central Town of Daad village.
The complainant alleged that Manjit Singh wanted him to vacate the house. The accused sent two men to his rented accommodation who claimed themselves to be plumbers and said Manjit sent them to repair the water tank of the house. As he opened the door, at least 23 people barged into the house and overpowered him and his family.
Verma alleged that the accused kidnapped him and his family members in a car and kept driving on the city roads. The accused threatened them to vacate the house. Later, they dropped them near the house and escaped. Before that the accused also stole valuables from the house and asked him to contact the landlord to get them back.
ASI Iqbal Singh, investigating officer from Sadar police station, said a case under Sections 452 (house trespassing), 447 (punishment for criminal trespass), 511 (attempt to commit an offence), 380 (theft), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal conspiracy), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 427 (mischief causing damage the amount of fifty rupees) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been lodged against the accused.
