The Vice President and head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung said today that the Samsung Health platform reached 64 million monthly active users worldwide. The Galaxy Watch series is helping that number grow year by year, and according to the VP, the Galaxy Watch’s sleep feature is among the most popular components of Samsung Health.

The popularity of the Galaxy Watch’s sleep monitoring feature is why Samsung wants to improve One UI Watch with better tools for users to track their sleep patterns. And at the beginning of May, Samsung announced that the upcoming One UI Watch 5 update will bring improved sleep insights and better sleep coaching features.

According to the data, half of Galaxy Watch users access the sleep monitoring tools weekly, while 40% of Galaxy Watch wearers use the sleep features in Samsung Health at least three times a week.

In essence, tens of millions of Galaxy Watch users worldwide use Samsung Health to track their sleep quality and habits. It’s no wonder Samsung is now focusing on improving this particular Health component for the upcoming One UI Watch update.

The company announced that one of the biggest changes that will be introduced by One UI Watch 5 will be Sleep Coaching. Or more specifically, Samsung wants to make the Sleep Coaching feature, which helps users form better sleep habits, will be accessible directly on smartwatches. Right now, Sleep Coaching is available in the Samsung Health app for Galaxy phones but missing from Galaxy Watches.

One UI Watch 5 will debut with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch series, rumored to be unveiled at Unpacked in late July.
