HYDERABAD: It’s time to explore a new chapter for students of Penchikalpahad Mandal Primary School in Nirmal. For, they have been gifted a bouquet of books to set up their school’s first library thank to the efforts of a few good Samaritans from Hyderabad.
It was on Twitter that Vinay Vangla, an IT professional, came across the school’s need. “When I connected with the headmaster, I realised the children needed books in order to have a meaningful summer vacation instead of staring at mobiles,” said Vinay.
Vinay said that he reached out to a few people including Mydhili Maddala and Suveer Sharma who held the collection drives in a few gated communities in the city.
Some of the books, including those on GK and motivation, were contributed by another IT professional Nagarjuna Sai Kosana.
“In my apartment and neighbouring ones with over 2,000 flats we routinely conduct collection drives and donate to NGOs. But this particular drive was special as it was concentrating on a specific age group up to class 5. It became a good weekend activity for many families who involved their children in packing the books and stationery for their friends in Nirmal,” said Mydhili.
In all, they collected books to fill four racks. The brand new school library was later inaugurated by Nirmal SP Challa Praveen Kumar on Sunday. “The students in the primary school were really happy as many of them will soon have to write entrance exams for social welfare and Navodaya schools for admissions after class five. The library is a testimony to united effort bearing fruit and it will keep students motivated to work hard to achieve their dreams,” added Vinay.
