Jaipur: The chairman and commissioner of Karauli municipal board and the local MLA are using the funds sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to refill fuel in their personal vehicles, alleged RTI activist Ashok Pathak.
“The central government pays Rs 50 lakh a month to Karauli municipal board every month to keep the city neat and clean. Although 28 out of the 30 garbage vehicles of the board have been junked, the board is raising a bill of Rs 8 to 10 lakh every month towards refuelling these vehicles. In real, the fuel is being used by the private and personal vehicles of board chairman Aminuddin Khan, commissioner Narsi Meena and local MLA Lakhan Singh Meena. Even their relatives are acquaintances are refuelling their vehicles with this fund,” alleged Pathak at a press conference here on Monday.
Pathak claimed that because of the malpractice, the condition of Karauli city is in a shambles and there are garbage and rags piled at every nook and cranny of the city. In fact, a portion of this money, being spend on recruiting 2,300 sweepers under the Indira Gandhi Rojgar Yojna, is also going in vain.
“Following a series of RTIs and detailed investigation, I found out this scam which is similar to the fodder scam of former Bihar chief minister
Lalu Prasad Yadav. I am going to lodge complaints with the CBI and enforcement department. If required, I am going to move court as well,” said Pathak.
TOI tried to contact Karauli MLA Meena but he did not respond.
