Indore woman gets Muslim boyfriend arrested on rape charges after watching The Kerala Story

A Muslim man was arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore after his Hindu girlfriend watched the controversial Bollywood film The Kerala Story and filed an FIR against her boyfriend for allegedly raping her on the pretext of marriage and pressuring her to convert, officials said.
According to the police, 23-year-old Faizan was arrested after his girlfriend accused him of rape after “falling into the trap of love under the pretext of marriage.”
Giving details, a senior police official said the duo met at a coaching centre four years ago and fell in love and later started a live-in relationship.
The highly educated woman who works for a private company, had fell in love with the accused, a high-school dropout who studied till class 12 and is unemployed, and alleged that he started mentally harassing her to change her religion which often resulted in arguments between the two.
Talking to reporters, Khajrana police station in-charge Dinesh Verma said that accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 2021, which prohibits conversion by force or cheating.
The complainant has alleged that her boyfriend was constantly pressuring her to convert to Islam so that they could get married as per Muslim rituals but when she resisted, he purportedly beat her and raped her on multiple occasions.
However, recently, things came to a breaking point when she persuaded her boyfriend to watch The Kerala Story with her. After watching the film, the couple got into a heated argument and the man allegedly assaulted her, the officer said, adding that the woman filed a complaint at the Khajrana police station on May 19 leading to the arrest of her boyfriend.
Further investigation is underway, he said.
The Kerala Story has sparked a massive controversy since its first trailer—which claimed that 32,000 women from the state were converted to Islam and recruited by global terror group Islamic State— hit the screens in November last year.

AAP shares video of Manish Sisodia being manhandled by cops, Delhi Police issues clarification

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday claimed that former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was allegedly “manhandled” by the cops as he tried to address some reporters at the Rose Avenue Court where he was due for a bail hearing.
Sharing a video of the incident which showed the jailed AAP leader being grabbed by the collar by a police official and pulled away from the press, Delhi Education Minister Atishi Singh wrote on Twitter: “Shocking misbehaviour by this policeman with Manish ji in Rouse Avenue Court.”
The AAP minister demanded the immediate suspension of the Delhi policeman seen in the video.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shared Atishi’s post and asked if the cops have the right to mistreat Sisodia and wondered if they’ve been asked to do this by “higher authorities.”
Responding to the video, the Delhi Police termed the AAP’s allegations as “propaganda” and claimed that the police response as seen in the video was mandated from a security point of view as it is unlawful for an accused in judicial custody to issue statements to the media.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Rose Avenue Court today extended Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody till June 1 in connection with a money laundering case related to the purported liquor scam case.
Earlier this month, the Delhi High Court had asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file a response to the bail request by Sisodia who was arrested by the probe agency in connection with the purported liquor policy scam case.
On April 28, Sisodia was denied relief by a trial court which dismissed his bail plea on April 28 while observing that evidence prima facie “speaks volumes of his involvement in commission of the offence.”
The senior AAP leader was arrested by the ED on March 9 in Tihar Jail where he was lodged after being arrested by the CBI in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam case.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in connection with its ongoing probe into the purported Delhi excise policy ‘scam’ case.
At an earlier hearing, the ED had told the court that Sisodia was allegedly involved in “large-scale destruction of digital evidence to impede the investigation” and had purportedly changed and destroyed 14 phones.

Madhya Pradesh cop fires at girlfriend, kills her father, later dies by suicide on train tracks

In a shocking incident, a Madhya Pradesh policeman stormed his girlfriend’s house and opened fire at her family, killing her father while injuring the woman and her brother. The police personnel then killed himself by jumping in front of a speeding train.
According to reports, on late Sunday night, 25-year-old Subhash Kharadi, who was employed as a driver in the Madhya Pradesh Police and posted in Dewas, stormed the house of his girlfriend Shivani (25) in Shajapur district and shot at the family with a Katta or country-made pistol, killing the woman’s father, and dealing critical injuries to her and her brother.
The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Jakir Khan, the police said, adding that the woman and her brother also received critical bullet wounds and are undergoing treatment at a hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
The accused then fled the scene and later posted pictures of him and his girlfriend and wrote: “I killed her because she betrayed me. I have given her a pain that she will never forget.”
Thinking that he had killed his girlfriend in cold blood, the guilt-ridden man then apparently died by suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train and his mutilated body was found on railway tracks.
A senior police official said that the injured woman and her brother sustained grievous wounds in the firing and were rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Indore for advanced treatment. However, the condition of both the victims remains critical, he said.
The official said that police has registered a case in this regard and initial reports suggest that the incident was the outcome of a twisted love story in which the accused felt betrayed after being allegedly cheated on by his girlfriend.
Further investigation is ongoing, he said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hitched an impromptu truck ride from Sonipat to Ambala on the Punjab-Haryana highway. Videos and pictures of the Gandhi scion’s late night truck journey have gone viral on social media platforms.
According to reports, Rahul Gandhi was on his way to Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla to visit his mother Sonia Gandhi when he stopped at a Dhaba in Haryana’s Sonipat and interacted with some truck drivers.
Then, in the spur-of-the-moment, the former Congress chief decided to hitch a ride on one of the trucks from Sonipat to Punjab’s Ambala.
Visuals showing the former Wayanad MP waving at commuters while seated in truck’s front seat next to the driver, are doing the rounds on social media platforms.
Reports quoting Congress sources said that during this unplanned truck journey, Rahul Gandhi talked to several drivers about their work and the problems they face in their daily routines.
They claimed that the truck ride was a spontaneous move by Gandhi.
In a snide jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio show, the Congress, in a tweet, accompanied by pictures and videos of Gandhi riding in the truck, wrote that the senior leader listened to the “Mann ki Baat” of truck drivers who have their own set of problems while plying on highways.
Rahul Gandhi has been frequently interacting with various sections of the public since his pan-India Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Earlier this month, while campaigning for the Karnataka Assembly polls, the Congress scion took a joyride on a delivery boy’s scooter in Bengaluru as he hopped on the man’s two-wheeler and rode pillion.
In a video that was widely viewed and shared on social media, Gandhi hopped on to a delivery boy’s scooter and hitched a nearly 2 km ride before getting off at his hotel.
During the Congress poll campaign, Gandhi also travelled on a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus and spoke to women passengers onboard.
