GGEA takes up cudgelsfor PWD employees

A delegation of the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) called on the Minister for Public Works Nilesh Cabral and presented him a memorandum with several demands of the employees of the department of
public works.

The delegation led by GGEA president Prashant Devidas demanded filling up of all vacant posts at all the water treatment plants in the state, with timely departmental promotions; implementation of the insurance scheme or instant financial
assistance for employees with high risk that is all technical staff of the department as done by the electricity department for its employees; and refusal to any extension for any employee of the department after superannuation.

The GGEA also demanded supply of raincoats, sandals, safety equipments and other relevant articles for all technical workers, working in water treatment plant on time; and carrying out annual, regular medical examination of all staff members working at all the seven water
treatment plants.

The Association further demanded considering the years of service and experience of the daily wages workers of the department by granting TSL status to around 1,402 daily wages staff on
humanitarian ground.

The 480 unskilled staff of the department presently has remuneration of `407 per day, while 425 semiskilled workers have remuneration of `468 per day. The 280 skilled staff gets remuneration
of `527 per day.
