PATNA: Senior JD(U) leader and former Rajya Sabha member K C Tyagi returned as 'special adviser and chief spokesperson' of the party on Monday, just two months after the surprise omission of his name from the party's list of new office-bearers.
The notification regarding Tyagi's appointment as 'special adviser and chief spokesperson' was issued by JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh.
"K C Tyagi is an experienced leader associated with socialist movement and has worked closely with late Choudhary Charan Singh (former PM) and Nitish Kumar (CM of Bihar). We want to take advantage of his organizational experience. So, he is appointed as 'special adviser and chief spokesperson' of the party," Lalan said in a statement.
Tyagi thanked Nitish and the party chief for giving him new assignments.
Earlier on March 21, when the JD(U) headed by its new president Lalan Singh released the list of its 32-member national office-bearers, the name of Tyagi was conspicuously missing from the list. Many in the JD(U) were surprised by omission of Tyagi's name. He had been the party's secretary general-cum-national spokesperson and the party's face in the national capital for 20 years. Then, Tyagi had told TOI that he was not included in the list because he himself had made a request to Nitish for not allotting him any post.
