Abbott recalled baby formula claims tossed by federal judge

LPETTET
- A federal judge in Chicago dismissed some claims related to Abbott Laboratories' (NYSE:ABT) recalled baby formula that was allegedly contaminated saying the parents lacked standing to sue.
- U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly said that they did not demonstrate which Abbott (ABT) products or lots specifically were contaminated, or that their children were harmed by the products.
- "In short, the plaintiffs received exactly what they say they bargained for: safe infant formula," Kennelly wrote in his decision, Reuters reported.
- The plaintiffs had argued they wouldn't have purchased Abbott's formula or would have paid less for it, but the company claimed it was safe.
- An Abbott (ABT) representative told the news service that no distributed products from a Michigan plant where the company's baby formula is manufactured tested positive for bacteria that the plaintiffs alleged.
