Cong guarantees: Ivan takes on BJP leaders

Mangaluru: Taking to task BJP leaders and MLAs who are pressing the Congress government to implement its five guarantee schemes without any conditions attached to it, KPCC vice-president and former MLC Ivan D’Souza asked if it is possible to implement schemes even without identifying beneficiaries.
D’Souza told reporters here on Monday that the cabinet led by chief minister Siddaramaiah has already given in-principle approval to the five guarantees.
“Should the state government not identify the beneficiaries and work out the modalities before the implementation of guarantees? During the campaign before the assembly election, the BJP leaders and MLAs had claimed that the Congress guarantee schemes have no warranty attached to it and Congress cannot implement it. However, the cabinet has already given in-principle approval to Gruha Jyoti, Gruha Lakshmi, Yuva Nidhi, Anna Bhagya and Shakti schemes,” D’Souza said.
Ivan D’Souza added that the Congress government in Karnataka is committed to implement all the guarantee schemes.
The BJP does not have any moral responsibility to seek the implementation of guarantee schemes, he said, adding, “Let them speak on the promises including Rs 15 lakh into bank accounts and doubling of farmers’ income. The voters in the state have rejected the manifesto of the BJP and accepted the Congress guarantees that are truly for sabka saath sabka vikas.”
