Jaipur: The anti corruption bureau (ACB) arrested Ved Prakash Yadav, joint director, department of information and technology (DoIT), in the alleged misuse of office and disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The agency had recovered Rs 2.31 crore in cash and a gold bar weighing around 1kg from the almirah of his office where he is the in-charge and the storekeeper. Following his arrest, the state government has suspended him.
Yadav was handed over to the ACB team late on Saturday night by the Jaipur police which had kept him under detention. An FIR for misuse of office and disproportionate assets has been lodged against him.
“We produced him before the court and have taken him on three-day remand for questioning. He will also be investigated to find out about his role in issuing tenders for supplying
LCD, laptops, computers and other items to DoIT,” said a senior ACB officer.
“We will also quiz him to find out if others are involved in it. Vendors who had given the bribe as commission will also be quizzed,” said a senior officer. On Friday night, authorities had discovered the money and gold stashed away from two almirahs in his office while checking files.
