Coimbatore: The city cybercrime police registered a case against nine Twitter handles on Sunday for claiming that Muslim-run restaurants were adding contraceptive pills in biryani sold to Hindu customers.
Sub-inspector P Thamaraikannan lodged a complaint after finding inflammatory messages about ‘biryani jihad’ on Sunday morning.
The cybercrime police registered a case against nine Twitter handles under sections 465, 505 (1) (b), of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66, 66 D of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Inspector P Arun is investigating. Police also warned people not to share or forward rumours.TNN
