Markets Wait For Outcome Of Debt Ceiling Talks

Market sentiment remined jittery on Monday as inconclusive talks added to the concerns surrounding a potentially dangerous debt default. Political tensions with China and monetary policy uncertainty in the U.S. also kept market mood cautious.

European benchmarks are trading lower. Wall Street Futures are trading in mildly negative territory. Asian stocks, however finished trading on a mostly positive note.

Dollar dropped, dragging the Dollar Index. Bond yields moved in a mixed fashion. Crude oil prices edged higher. Gold is trading close to the flatline. Cryptocurrencies are moving mixed.

South Korean automakers Hyundai Motor and Kia Corp. have agreed to pay about $200 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over their vehicles' vulnerability to theft due to a design flaw in vehicles manufactured without an engine immobilizer, an anti-theft mechanism. The settlement agreement is expected to benefit owners of about nine million vehicles. Pleasant Grove, Utah-based Nature's Energy is recalling Children's Chewable Colostrum for possible presence of undeclared milk allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said. The products are being recalled include 180 count packages of Childrens Chewable Colostrum Berry, Chocolate and Orange Creamsicle flavors. Disney has canceled its plans to develop a new employee campus in Florida and to relocate thousands of employees in an apparent feud with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, reports said citing a memo to employees. Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney's parks, experiences and products division, said the decision was taken amid changing business conditions.
