Prayagraj: Locals preferred staying indoor to avoid the scorching heat as the maximum temperature almost reached 45 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The IMD has predicted heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over state and an increase in temperature by 2 to 4 degree Celsius in next few days.
Doctors, advised citizens to avoid strenuous activities when outside temperature was high.
Doctors claimed that, “To minimise the impact during the heat wave and to prevent serious ailment due to heat stroke, people should avoid going out in the sun, especially afternoon hours (12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m) and drink sufficient water”.
They also advised to take all preventive measures and use protective goggles, umbrella/hat, shoes or chappals while going out in sun. Doctors also advised to avoid high-protein food and do not eat stale food.
Heath officials also asked to use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, rice water, lemon water, buttermilk, etc. which helps to rehydrate the body.
Fluids have now become a part of staple diet of majority of the residents to beat the summer heat and stay hydrated. Many residents of the city also ensured keeping water in pots for birds and strays.
“It’s better to keep ourselves indoor as prevailing heat wave could be fatal “ said Sandeep Bhargava, a resident of Civil Lines adding “We would not muster courage to go out during Sunday - the holiday as it was very hot conditions outside”.
