₹12L USG machine bought at ₹52L in Chatra hosp, health dept orders probe
Chatra: A scam of Rs 40 lakh has been reported in Chatra sadar hospital in purchase of ultrasound machine. It appeared that Rs 12 lakh machine was purchased for Rs 52 lakh.
A letter came from the health department in this regard asking the officials concerned to make available all documents related to this purchase to regional deputy director, health, Siddharth Sanyal who is probing this case.
Sources said that the letter has sought information on various points, including the purchase date of the machine. It also seeks information as to who ordered the purchase and what are the specialities of the ultrasound machine. “In which financial year the purchase was made and whether a tender was floated for the purpose. The department has asked whether the sadar hospital has another ultrasound machine or not and if these machines are functional or not,” the letter asked.
Civil surgeon Shyam Nandan Singh said the purchase was done through GeM portal. “
Regional deputy director Siddharth Sanyal had asked for all records related to the purchase of the USG machine besides reply on various points. We have made ready everything as per the directives and soon it will go on the regional deputy director's table,” he said.
About the scam, Singh said they were asked to submit all documents related to the purchase. “We have furnished the required documents and now it is up to the regional deputy director to probe and ascertain if the scam happened or not,” he said.
