Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to 3,469 newly recruited secondary school teachers for the state-run government schools at a function in Ranchi on Friday.
“All of you know that soon after we assumed office, the Covid-19 pandemic hit us. Despite scarce resources and manpower, we successfully managed the crisis. Then, another pandemic came in the form of ED and CBI which also took the entire country in its grip. I said okay, let them continue their investigation. But even then, we stayed on course and kept going with our recruitments,” Soren said at the function, which was organised by the state department of school education and literacy at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Mega Sports Complex in Hotwar.
The CM said Jharkhand was known as “mazdooron ka rajya”. He added, “It is a tag which I am determined to shed. So, we are improving the state’s education system and quality of teaching so that the future generations become developed in social, economic and intellectual levels.”
In September 2020, the Jharkhand HC had scrapped the 2016 recruitment policy citing violation of constitutional rights. In all, 17,752 teachers were to be recruited.
The Jharkhand government on Friday said another batch of appointment letters will be distributed to the teachers in June this year. That apart, the state government has also planned to hand over appointment letters to 1,632 panchayati raj secretariat-level officers on May 24.
Soren also recalled his government’s efforts in the recent years to recruit district sports and agriculture officers, assistant engineers, nurses, medical officers, assistant public prosecutors and Ayush doctors in the state.
