PANAJI: The French Institute in India, in collaboration with Goa University, will conduct the International Training for Teachers of French, 2023, in Goa this year. This programme will host around 70 teachers of French from India and the neighbouring countries. The French Institute in India (Institut Francais en Inde — IFI) is the educational, scientific, and cultural department of the embassy of France in India.
This is the 8th edition of the programme and all participants will attend training of 30 hours during the week. The programme will be conducted by four expert-trainers from France and India from May 22 to 26 in Goa.
“I am extremely glad that Goa University is collaborating with the Institut Francais in India to organise this prestigious training programme on the campus of GU,” said professor Harilal B Menon, the vice-chancellor of Goa University. “The programme equips educators with the tools they need to create an immersive and engaging learning environment that prepares students for success in a diverse and interconnected world.”
The programme will cover a variety of teaching methodology topics such as introducing the Francophone world to French language classes, using phonetics to improve pronunc-iation, developing a systematic and efficient lesson plan adapted to India, teaching grammar in an action-oriented approach, developing learners’ oral skills, and using assessment to improve the learning process.
The opening ceremony of the programme on May 22 at 9am will be attended by the consul general of France in Mumbai, Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet.
“The best way to help learners is to have very well-trained French language teachers in order to open the door to the richness of Francophone culture in all the five continents,” said Séré-Charlet.
This year’s event is a significant step in promoting French language teaching and learning in India and its neighbouring countries, said Fatiha Kammoussi, the attache for cooperation in education at the French Institute of India.
