PATNA: From a paltry sum of Rs11,000 per annum in November 1987 to generating Rs10 lakh per day in May 2023, the Mahavir Mandir Nyas Samiti's success story is probably unparalleled in the history of the temple management in north India, particularly when Patna is not a 'teerth kheshtra' (pilgrimage centre).
The income of the temple near Patna Junction includes offerings, fee from rituals, sales of Naivedyam, flowers and other puja items, donations and bank interest. It is the income of the temple alone and does not include the income of hospitals run under the aegis of the temple trust. The temple's earning in north India is next to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu, said Nyas samiti secretary Acharya Kishore Kunal on Friday.
Speaking about the Ram Rasoi, which the trust runs at Amava temple in Ayodhya, Kunal said free, sumptuous and quality meals are provoided to over 3,000 people from 11.30 am to around 4pm there everyday. "The Rasoi, which earlier used to feed around 1,000 people a day now feeds over 3,000 people visiting there for Ram Lala's darshan everyday. Altogether 10 items are served on the menu," he said and added that it has also been certified by the Government of India's Trade Marks Registry Department.
"We have allocated an annual budget of Rs3.2 crore from the Mahavir Mandir, Patna, for the Ram Raso," Kunal said.
As per Mahavir Mandir record, the highest number of people who visit the rasoi are from UP followed by Bihar. "The meal offered at Ram Rasoi not only satiates our hunger but gives a divine feeling, especially after Ram Lala's darshan," said Awadh Chaudhury of Patna, who frequently visits Ayodhya.
