Rajkot: A dispute over laying a water pipeline took a serious turn when a 70-year-old man was killed and his nephew critically injured as their neighbour opened fire at the duo in a village of Porbandar district on Friday.
Police said the incident took place at around 10.30am in Bakhrala village after heated arguments between the neighbours. The deceased was identified as Khima Kunti while his nephew
Kishore (35) suffered bullet injuries.
In his complaint, Kishor said they had an altercation with the accused Arjan Kunti, whose farm is adjacent to theirs.
Kishor and their partners had dug up canals to lay the pipeline to bring irrigation water to their farm from the village lake. The pipeline was passing through Arjan’s farm which he did not approve of. Arjan blocked the canal using earthmovers, which sparked a quarrel between the neighbours.
Arjan lost his temper and opened fire at Kishor and his uncle from his revolver. Khima died before reaching the hospital while Kishor is under treatment. The police detained Arjan for questioning and booked him for murder.
