NOIDA: Low water pressure continues to ail hundreds of Greater Noida homes at Sectors , Beta 1, 2, 36, 37 and 3 in the peak of summer. A single overhead tank caters to four sectors, Delta 1, 2, 3 and Eta 1 with over 25,000 residents, and often leads to a shortage of supply in the areas.
TOI on May 15 reported that residents of nearly half a dozen sectors in Greater Noida were affected as there were gaps in supply or very low pressure. At Sector , home to nearly 4,000 families, the problem has dragged on over the last three months.
Repeated complaints, they claimed, have met with excuses - different ones each time - of faulty water pump, water pipeline bursts, power failure leading to the sector's water tank not being filled, the water pump not being started by the operator.
On Friday, the RWA president of the sector, Aditya Bhati, said the GNIDA should urgently replace the water pumps that fill
up its overhead tanks. "The water pumps installed at present are faulty and break down frequently."
In Sector 3, residents claimed water shortage continued despite recent complaints.
Residents of Delta 1, meanwhile, have written to the GNIDA CEO with demands for a separate tank to supply their area.
"Overall, the three sectors have over 25,000 residents, but there's only one overhead water tank, which is in Sector Eta 1," said Rishipal Bhati, former RWA president, Sector Delta 1.
"Given the rising population, there is a need to bifurcate supply with another tank for Delta sectors alone as we are facing daily water issues in our sector," he added.
Breaks and leakages in the pipeline, leading to shortages in supply are no rare occurrences.
"We have written to the GNIDA CEO several times now to address the issue and provide a separate tank for our sector. While former CEO Narendra Bhooshan had directed staff to look into the matter and prepare a report, there has been no progress since," said Bhati.
While officials in GNIDA have noted the complaints, there is no reply from them.
