NEW DELHI: Delhiites witnessed a warm and humid day on Friday, with the weather department expecting the maximum temperature to rise further on Saturday.
According to the weather department, the maximum temperature on Friday rose by two degrees Celsius and may further increase over the next two-three days. However, light rain and thunder activity is expected to bring some respite in next three-four days.
There was some moisture in the air due to rain a day earlier and with the rise in temperature, the discomfort increased. Now that the sky will remain clear, the maximum temperature will increase till May 21, remain almost same on May 22 and from May 23 evening there are chances of rain due to fresh western disturbance," said Kuldeep Srivastava, weather scientist, India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On Friday, the maximum temperature was 38.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. The minimum temperature was 24.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. Meanwhile, at 40.1 degrees Celsius, Najafgarh was the warmest area of the city, followed by 40 degrees Celsius at sports complex at Akshardham.
