Ludhiana: Ludhiana rural police on Thursday evening arrested a man for the murder of an alcohol addict in Raikot area. Two other accused are yet to be traced.
The deceased, Kaka Sharma (48), was addicted to alcohol and would mostly stay out after getting drunk. He said the accused Tejinderpal and two others lived with him, claimed Kaka’s nephew Sandeep Kumar of Agwar Rara, Jagraon in his complaint to the police. Kaka was a labourer and was unmarried.
Sandeep claimed that his uncle and other often used to drink together. He said on Thursday morning, he came to know that his maternal uncle was found dead outside a shop in Adda Raikot area of Jagraon. When they brought the body to the cremation ground in Jagraon for the last rites, Sandeep noticed injury marks on Kaka’s body. Thereafter, he checked the footage of the CCTV camera installed outside the shop and saw the trio beating up his uncle brutally. CCTV footage also revealed that Tejinderpal came to see his uncle again on Thursday morning.
Police officials said police got information about the matter when the deceased was to be cremated. Later, City Jagraon police booked the accused under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
