Mumbai: Task fraud gang busted; 12 held for duping people of lakhs
The cyber police in Mumbai arrested 12 persons who were part of an interstate gang involved in duping people of lakhs by asking them to perform various tasks on online, an official said on Friday. The cyber police busted the racket while probing different cases of fraud registered at different police stations, he said. In one such case registered at East Region Cyber police station, the complainant was duped of more than Rs 10 lakh between January 10 and February 10 this year, the official said.

Maharashtra logs 81 new Covid-19 cases, one casualty; active tally at 558
Maharashtra on Friday reported 81 new cases of coronavirus and a single casualty due to the infection that raised the tally to 81,68,737 and toll to 1,48,549, an official from the state health department said. As per the health department's report, the state currently has 558 active cases after 119 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the recovery count to 80,19,669.Maharashtra had on Thursday logged 72 new cases and a single fresh fatality.

A boundary wall around the newly declared 812 acres of reserved forest in Aarey Colony will be built by the state public works department. ‘Like & Earn’ task fraud gangs busted; 12 arrested for duping three of Rs 62L
Twelve men were arrested by the cyber police in separate cases of ‘like and earn’ task frauds where three citizens were duped of Rs 62 lakh collectively.The accused were involved in creating fake documents for starting bogus business entities and opening bank accounts in the names of these companies. These bank accounts were then used to rake in money defrauded from vulnerable citizens. Some of the accused were also involved in remitting the ill gotten money to Hong Kong and Dubai.
