Karnataka CM-designate Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar on Friday met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to discuss all possible names to be inducted into the cabinet and formally invite the Congress high command for the swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.
The visit came a day after the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Thursday formally elected Siddaramaiah as its leader, after which he went to the Governor's office which invited him to form the next government of Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are scheduled to take oath as the chief minister and deputy chief minister respectively along with a few ministers at 12.30 pm on Saturday at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

Several prominent opposition leaders and Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister and D K Shivakumar as the Deputy Chief Minister here on Saturday as the grand old party seeks to promote opposition unity ahead of next year's Lok Sabha elections.
Congress bagged 135 seats in the May 10 elections to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly ousting the BJP, which got 66 seats while the Janata Dal (Secular) secured 19 seats in the results declared on May 13.

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of Samajwadi Party (SP), has announced that he will not attend the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka's chief minister-elect Siddaramaiah, according to a party spokesperson.

Congress has approved the list of cabinet ministers in the Karnataka government. The list of ministers who are set to become part of the Karnataka's cabinet include- Dr G Parameshwara, KH Muniyapa, KJ George, MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge, Ramalinga Reddy and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan.
Siddaramaiah will be sworn in as Chief Minister for the second term, along with state Congress President D K Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday afternoon, exactly a week after the party swept the Assembly polls in Karnataka.
Sources said the new cabinet would have representation from all regions of the state and sections including SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, women, youth and Lingayats and Vokkaligas, the two prominent communities in the southern state, sources said. Shivakumar is a Vokkaliga.
Some prominent names included former Karnataka Congress chief and ex-deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, Lingayat leader M B Patil, senior Congressman and former minister KJ George, they said.
Priyank Kharge, the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Roopa Shashidhar, the daughter of former Union minister K H Muniyappa, Karnataka Congress working president Eshwara Khandre, former minister Tanveer Sait, senior leader Krishna Byre Gowda and Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council B K Hariprasad are among the names considered, the sources said.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, according to the news agency PTI.
Sources said that 20 to 25 ministers could take oath on Saturday. (PTI)
Five guarantees promised by Congress during the campaign are 200 units of free power, ₹2,000 for the woman head of a family, 10 kg of rice free to every member of a BPL household, ₹3,000 a month for unemployed degree holders, and ₹1,500 a month for diploma holders for two years and free bus rides for women.

Congress leader and President Mallikarjun Kharge's son Priyank Kharge on Friday said that the party which is set to form the government in Karnataka on May 20 will fulfil its five guarantees made during the state polls in its first cabinet meeting.
"Absolutely, that is the commitment and the Congress will complete that. Five commitments will be fulfilled in the first cabinet meeting," he said.
According to the reports, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao have not been invited for the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Mamata Banerjee might miss the event because of her prior commitments.
The names of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati have not appeared on the guest list.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has invited several like-minded parties for the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

Karnataka chief minister-designate Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister-designate D K Shivakumar have discussed the modalities of cabinet formation in the state with the party leadership in Delhi and are learnt to have shortlisted some names of ministers and their portfolios.
"We want to invite our leaders, we want to invite Rahul ji, Sonia ji, Kharge ji, and Priyanka ji for the ceremony. They gave their sweat, and direction (to the campaign), so I wanted to invite them personally. Later, we are discussing the cabinet formation," Shivakumar told reporters after arriving here.
