Teen girl trying to protect mother stabbed 17 times

SURAT: City police arrested a 45-year-old migrant worker on Friday for allegedly killing his 19-year-old daughter and attacking his wife and sons.
The accused stabbed his daughter 17 times as she tried to protect her mother in the grisly attack.
Accused Ramanuj Sahoo then attacked his wife, Rekha (40), stabbing her 10 times besides chopping off two fingers. The police arrested Sahoo near his home in Kadodara GIDC area for the murder and attack on his wife.
Sahoo, a textile mill worker, killed his daughter Chanda and injuring his wife. In the attack, their three sons Suraj (16), Dhiraj (14) and Vishal (12) too suffered injuries while trying to save their mother.
The couple developed a dispute over going to the terrace to sleep at night. Later, Sahoo went out and returned after some time and attacked Rekha with a knife. Noticing her mother in trouble, Chanda rushed in to protect her when the accused started stabbing the girl.
"The deceased came to save her mother. However, the accused is yet to reveal the reasons behind his stabbing the girl so many times. She died on the spot sustaining injuries on vital organs," said a police officer.
After the girl collapsed on the floor, the woman ran towards the terrace to save her life with her husband chasing her and stabbing her there too.
"The mother suffered at least 10 stabbing injuries and two of her fingers were chopped off. She has been operated upon to attach the fingers and is still admitted in the hospital," said the police.
Cops are questioning the accused to find out exactly what conspired between them prior to developed the dispute over going to sleep on the terrace.
As the accused is still not revealing details, the police may seek custody for further investigation.
