YAMUNANAGAR: The police have registered a case of murder after a woman alleged that her husband was killed by her in-laws and some family members following a property dispute in Haryana's Yamunanagar district.
The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kumar of Budhi village in Bilaspur block.
Sandeep’s wife Geeta lodged a complaint against six peopke, including her husband's father, mother, two brothers and sisters-in-law, who have been booked under Section 302 (punishment for murder), 34 (common intention) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Bilaspur police station on May 18.
Geeta stated in her complaint that she belongs to Saran village in Yamunanagar district and got married to Sandeep Kumar of Budhi village about 2 years ago.
“There was a property dispute between my husband and other members of our family. On May 16, I along with Sandeep had gone to my maternal house and he returned home after leaving me there. On May 18, I received the information that my husband Sandeep died last night and his body was cremated by my in-laws without informing me about his death. My husband was killed by a family member of my husband over a property dispute”, said Geeta.
A police officer said, “The dead body of deceased was cremated by his family members, therefore, post-mortem could not be conducted to ascertain cause of death. We are conducting an investigation to ascertain the circumstances and reason behind the death of the deceased.”
