Fed up with property dispute, elderly couple ends life in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district
TIRUPATI: An elderly couple, which was entangled in a property dispute, died by suicide near Madanapalle in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh.
The deceased — identified as Guttapalem Narasimhulu Naidu (70) and his wife G Venkata Subbamma (60) — hailed from Buruju village in Tamballapalle mandal.
According to information, Narasimhulu Naidu had a property dispute with his brother G Appalla Naidu, who recently lodged a complaint with the Tamballapalle police station.
It is learned that Narasimhulu Naidu received a phone call to come to the Tamballapalle police station for an enquiry on Thursday.
He told the police that his wife was sick and that he had to take her for treatment to Virupakshapuram and told them that he would come later.
But the couple who were scared of visiting the police station reportedly consumed soft drinks laced with pesticides and ended lives at their home at Anupagutta at Madanapalle Town late on Thursday.
Their son Gopi Prasad, having found both parents dead on Friday morning, lodged a complaint with the Madanapalle II town police station.
Police registered a case and shifted the bodies of the deceased for postmortem.
