AHMEDABAD: A cloth merchant who lives in Usmanpura, Bhavar Gandhi, registered a complaint against a couple, Krina and Tushar Trivedi, for allegedly cheating him out Rs 1.41 crore. The couple allegedly even got him to pay the outstanding Rs 46 lakh for the loan on their house. They have been arrested.
In his complaint for cheating, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy filed on Thursday, Gandhi alleged that Krina and Tushar contacted him and told him they were running a firm called RB Fashion. The two proposed to purchase denim and promised to clear their dues in 60 days. They also submitted their GST number. Initially, the couple bought denim worth Rs 16.77 lakh and paid him in instalments.
He stated that between 2028 and 2019, the couple took denim worth Rs 1.12 crore but paid only Rs 34 lakh. When they failed to clear their dues, they promised to return the money owed after selling their house. The couple then asked Gandhi to give them Rs 46 lakh to clear their home loan so they could sell the house.
The complainant said as he was assured that the Rs 95.35 lakh he was owed would be paid from the proceeds of the house, he agreed to give them Rs 46 lakh for the home loan. After he did this, the couple refused to sell the house and did not repay the Rs 1.41 crore he was owed. Gandhi then lodged a complaint with Kagdapith police, who arrested the couple on Thursday.
