AHMEDABAD: A primary teacher from Ambawadi on Wednesday filed a complaint with Ellisbridge police, alleging that a transgender person (maasiba) came to her house on May 14 and duped her out of Rs 49,000 on the pretext of performing certain rituals.
Bhumika Trivedi, 38, a resident of Sunita Society in Ambawadi who works as a teacher, in her FIR stated that a person in the attire of some goddess had come to her house on May 14 afternoon.
The person demanded money from Trivedi and she gave her Rs 20, but she refused to take it. The person then asked her about her deity and Trivedi told her they worship Goddess Bahuchar.
The person then said that Trivedi's family had several problems and she could make their troubles disappear.
Trivedi said the person demanded vermilion and rice to perform a ritual and put them in a glass of water. The person drank the water and told Trivedi her troubles could be made to vanish for which she proposed another ritual.
The person demanded Rs 32,000, to put at the place of worship in the house. As they did not have the money, Trivedi gave Rs 4,000 cash and jewellery worth Rs 45,000 to the person. Trivedi said the person put the jewellery in a bag and took it and told her to prepare some food. The person promised to return in a while, but fled.
