Supporters of Pilot and Gehlot come to blows
AJMER: Supporters of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and his bete noire Sachin Pilot scuffled on Thursday before a "feedback" meet of Congress workers in Ajmer, the brawl taking the duo's feud to a new low ahead of the polls due later this year.
The rivals had an altercation over seating arrangements, which led to them kicking and punching each other, according to Karan Singh, the SHO of Vaishali Nagar in the Christianganj area of Ajmer where the meet was lined up.
AICC secretary and Rajasthan co-in-charge Amrita Dhawan, presiding over the session, left the programme mid-way as the situation went out of hand.
SHO Singh said the cops intervened and pacified the warring sides. "It was an office-bearers' meeting where supporters of Ajmer Saras Dairy chairman Ramchandra Chaudhary and RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore started shouting slogans against each other," said Congress city chief Vijay Jain.
The workers of Ajmer and Pushkar were supporters of Gehlot loyalist Rathore. The workers from Masuda and other rural regions were Pilot supporters.
