Nagpur: Former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vikas Mahatme on Thursday urged railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to start Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur to Indore and Secunderabad on the lines of Bilaspur-Nagpur train.
A delegation led by Dr Mahatme and zonal railway users’ consultative committee (ZRUCC) member Vijay Dhawle met the railway minister and put forward the demand.
Dr Mahatme said Indore is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh and has historic links with Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
Besides, Secunderabad is an IT city where many from Vidarbha are not only pursuing higher studies but also work there.
“If Vande Bharat trains are started on this route, it would further provide impetus to trade and education sector. The present frequency of trains, buses, and flights for Indore and Secunderabad is inadequate,” said Dr Mahatme.
