Trying this super-expensive ice cream might cost you more than a family holiday trip or a second-hand car. The exotic ingredients kept in the very special dessert, which is made from rare ingredients shot its price tag phenomenally.
To take a bite of the mind-bogglingly expensive dessert, named Byakuya, it would cost people around a staggering 873,400 Japanese yen (£5,469; $6,696).
However, the rich and creamy taste of the ice cream is certainly something to write home about, told people who tasted the ice cream.
What makes Byakuya the world's most expensive ice cream?
One of the main reasons, crafting the ice cream is so costly for the chiefs is its ingredients. It contains rare white truffles grown in Alba, Italy. The white truffle comes for 2 million Japanese yen (nearly £12,000; $15,192) per kg. Other special ingredients in the ice cream include Parmigiano Reggiano and sake lees. The ice cream also includes ingredients like edible gold leaf, white truffle, natural cheeses, etc.
"It took us over 1.5 years to develop, with a lot of trials and errors to get the taste right. Achieving a Guinness World Records title made the effort all worth it," said a Cellato representative.
The man behind the world's most expensive dessert?
More than presenting a super-expensive dessert, the ice cream makers wanted to intertwine European and Japanese ingredients together in the ice cream. Cellato did this with the help of Tadayoshi Yamada, the head chef at RiVi, a restaurant in Osaka known for its imaginative fusion cuisine.
The Cellato staff people who tasted the ice cream shared their experience with the Guinness World Records team. They said that the ice cream is rich in taste and texture. The dominant fragrance of white truffle is enough to give a glimpse of the tasty delight. While tasting the desert, its fruity taste of Parmigiano Reggiano is an additional treat. Moreover, the Sake lees finish off the glorious taste experience.
The company is now planning to release the ice cream with other combinations of the finest ingredients, such as Champagne and caviar. Cellato will continue to experiment with the desert to bring something more exotic and creative for food lovers.
