RANCHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren will attend the swearing-in ceremony of
Karnataka CM-elect Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Sunday, his party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) said on Thursday.
"A formal invitation has been received at the chief minister's office for attending the swearing-in ceremony. Jharkhand chief minister will be attending the function," JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya told TOI on Thursday evening.
Notably, Soren met Congress president
Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Monday and congratulated him on the grand old party's thumping victory over BJP in the high-pitched Karnataka assembly election, whose results were announced on May 13.
Along with Soren, Congress chief ministers Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh) and Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan), Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, HP CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and others have also been invited.
Moreover, Soren has been involved in the recent discussions being undertaken by like-minded opposition parties which are trying to forge a united opposition alliance against BJP in the next year's Lok Sabha polls. He met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejaswi Yadav and gave his in-principle approval in favour of the alliance.
