Mysuru: The Sixth International Museum Day was celebrated in Mysuru on Thursday. The highlight of the celebrations was the museum on wheels event.
Over hundred heritage lovers from all over the state visited various museums in the city as part of the celebrations. Museums, sustainability and well-being is the theme of this year’s celebrations.
CN Manjula, deputy director, Heritage inaugurated the celebrations. She stated that museums are the reflections of our culture and the traditions. “It is the responsibility of all to conserve our heritage sites. The department is also working hard to ensure these heritage structures will be preserved through various interventions,” she said.
As part of the celebrations, the enthusiasts from all parts of the state visited Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Rail Museum and Jayalakshmi Vilas palace. An exhibition on various heritage sites of the state including Badami, Aihole, Pattadakallu were the other attractions for the heritage lovers.
