Rights panel records statement of SI’s mom
Guwahati: The Assam human rights commission recorded the statement of Junmoni’s mother, Sumitra Rabha, at their residence in Guwahati on Thursday.
Shantanu Bharali, who led the team to Junmoni’s residence, said the SP of the Commission has been directed to visit Junmoni’s official quarters in Nagaon and her house in Guwahati’s Odalbakra and to record the statements of other people, including neighbours.
Bharali said the state human rights commission has not registered any case so far. However, he expressed confidence in police saying they will conduct an impartial and proper investigation into the case and the family of the deceased will get justice.
Bharali further said the state rights panel will apprise the National Human Rights Commission of the matter after the SP collects the required facts and statements in connection with the case.
“Junmoni’s mother and other family members suspect foul play in her death. They informed us about the raid conducted by police at her official quarters on Monday, a day before she was killed in a road accident. The family told us that no senior police officer has visited their house after their daughter’s death,” Bharali said after meeting them.
