City gets its 1st underground substation
NOIDA: Ahead of the G20 summit, the district's first low tension (LT) underground substation, of 15 MVA (15,000 kV) capacity with 6 transformers of 2.5 MVA each, has become fully operational at the Sector 18 market.
It will cater to nearly 1,500 consumers in the area. The substation, which is built by Noida Authority through its executing agency the UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd (UPRNNL), cost Rs 21 crores. UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has made it fully operational now.
“We handed over the substation to the Noida power department PVVNL in November last year even as UPRNNL continued the work of laying underground cables and feeders for the Sector 18 market. Now the entire work is complete and the substation is fully operational,” Rajesh Kumar, deputy general manager of the Electrical and Maintenance department of Noida Authority, said. TNN
