GUWAHATI: The state Class X board results are likely to be declared by the end of this month, while the Class XII results may be out in the third week of June, sources in the state education department said.
The Board of Secondary Education Assam (Seba), which drew flak for the cancellation of the Class X general science and Assamese language papers following the question paper leak, aims to publish the results before time as a damage control measure.
"We are going ahead with plans to announce the Class X board results this month (May) itself. The evaluation of the answer scripts has already been done. Software-related works for compilation of the results are in full swing," a senior official of Seba told TOI on Wednesday.
Education minister Ranoj Pegu had last month said Seba would declare the results even before CBSE does. Though Seba sources said this would have been possible had the exams been held as per the previous schedule, the cancellation of two major papers and subsequent postponement of exams delayed the culmination of the Class X state boards in 12 days. "If there was no rescheduling, Seba could have announced the results by May 15," the official said.
Meanwhile, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) sources said though the date for the announcement of the Class XII results has not been decided yet, the plan is to publish the same by June 20.
Last year, AHSEC declared the Class XII board results on June 27. Barring the inflated pass percentage of over 99 recorded in 2021 because of formula-based evaluation amid the Covid-19 pandemic, AHSEC last year (2022) recorded its best results in a decade in the Science and Arts streams.
