Police said a 70 year-old-man was found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle after a crash was reported on northbound I-75 near Mitchell Avenue on Saturday night. On Wednesday, Cincinnati police said the man had died.

A prominent Greater Cincinnati businessman with more than four decades in the automobile industry was the victim of a weekend shooting on Interstate 75, the Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed.

Michael Thomas Sweeney, 70, died Monday, according to his obituary. A police report states he was shot in the head during a "road rage incident." Police have not released any information about possible suspects or arrests.

Cincinnati police said officers responded to a crash around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and found a 70-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The police report states two other people were in the vehicle with Sweeney but were not injured by the gunfire. Sweeney was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he later died.

According to his obituary, Sweeney had four children and 32 nieces and nephews. He went to Cardinal Pacelli grade school and St. Xavier High School.

He was in the family's automobile business for over 40 years. He is the nephew of Jake Sweeney, the son of Tom Sweeney and grandson of Walt Sweeney. The family has been operating car businesses in Cincinnati since 1917, according to a history of the family.

"Kind to everyone, Mike was often surrounded by his family and friends," the obituary states. "He loved sharing a good joke, especially one with a head-turning punchline, followed by a snap of his fingers."

Police say the homicide unit is investigating the shooting.
