Techie killed in bike accident

Erode: A 29-year-old Mettur resident was killed after his bike crashed into the parapet of a bridge at Nerinjipettai, on Bhavani-Mettur state highway, on Wednesday.
Police identified the deceased as K Durai of Kuttapatty in Salem. He was a diploma engineer working at an IT firm in Bengaluru.
Durai, his mother K Pushpa, 45, relative S Vaidyanathan, 31 and an astrologer had visited Bhavani on Wednesday to conduct a puja on the banks of the Cauvery river to help him find a good match.
After performing the puja, Pushpa and the astrologer left for Mettur on a bus, while Durai and Vaidyanathan were on a bike. “After some time, Durai removed his helmet. When they were passing through Nerinjipettai, he lost control over the vehicle, which rammed the parapet of a bridge,” a police officer said. “Durai succumbed to head injuries on the spot while Vaidyanathan sustained injuries.”
