DHANBAD: Former minister and independent MLA from Jamshedpur East, Saryu Roy, has called upon the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to provide adequate security to chartered accountant Suman Kumar in Hotwar jail.
Talking to newspersons on Tuesday evening, Roy said that he has tweeted a message to ED in this connection.
According to him, eversince the CA, who has been arrested in a disproportionate assets case involving a suspended IAS officer of the state, expressed his desire to become a government approver in the case, he is being tortured inside the jail. "He is under tremendous pressure not to become a government approver," said Roy.
"The officials and middlemen being caught for corruption during Hemant Soren government got training during the Raghubar government," he said. Roy, who was here to have parleys with the activists of Damodar Bachao Andolan, said after 18 years of continued efforts, Damodar water is nearly 95 per cent pure now. The entire industries situated on the banks of the river Damodar have now stopped releasing effluent water in the river which is very much encouraging.
"We have now decided to take up the case of release of civic pollution into the river. Civic sewage all along are still being released into the river," he said, adding that the government has approved setting of three sewage treatment plants alongside river Damodar, including one in Dhanbad. "We would request the authorities concerned to implement the project as soon as possible in larger public interest."
