Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.16% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:09AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market.

L&T Technology(up 0.61 per cent), Coforge(up 0.56 per cent), Wipro(up 0.51 per cent), Infosys(up 0.41 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.29 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tech Mahindra(down 0.33 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 0.11 per cent) and Persistent Systems(down 0.08 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.16 per cent at 27987.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 34.65 points at 18216.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 140.21 points at 61700.85.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, BLS Int. Services, Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Jindal Saw, The Anup Engg, Quicktouch Technolog, Lead Reclaim and Rub and Quality Foils(India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Omkar Speciality, SEL Manufact, Dangee Dums, Accuracy Shipping and Ipca Labs hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
