NEW DELHI: In its first meeting after the Supreme Court's recent judgment giving executive control over the services matters to the elected dispensation, the civil services board of Delhi government on Wednesday approved the proposal to replace Ashish Madhaorao More with Anil Kumar Singh as secretary in the services department.
A 1995-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer, Singh is currently posted as principal secretary of the environment and forest department and also holds additional charge as commissioner in the development department.
More, a 2005-batch IAS officer, will continue to hold the position of staff officer to the chief secretary of Delhi and the additional charge of secretary in the general administration department.
Accepting the CSB's proposal to replace More with Singh, Delhi government late on Wednesday sent the file to lieutenant governor VK Saxena for his approval. Once given a go ahead by the LG, the government will issue an order in this regard.
Following the May 11 judgment of the Supreme Court's constitution bench, which placed the control of bureaucrats working with Delhi government (excluding those related to police, public order, and land) under the elected dispensation, the CSB held its first meeting under the chairmanship of chief secretary Naresh Kumar.
More was removed by Delhi government from his post on May 11. "Since the order for More's transfer was issued bypassing the CSB, which deals with matters related to the transfer of IAS officers, the chief secretary convened the CSB meeting," said an official.
Sources said the Delhi government is likely to affect more transfers in bureaucracy in the next few days.
