Balangir: The mutilated body of a youth was found in a locked room at Salepali area here on Wednesday
The deceased was identified as Rinku Meher (27), who was an auto driver.
Police said a neighbour informed them about foul smell emanating from the closed room. A police team along with a magistrate rushed to the spot. The back door of the room was closed from inside and the front door was locked from outside. In presence of the magistrate, the house was opened and the mutilated body was recovered, the police said.
“The body had been lying in the house for a few days. The head was severed and both the hands and legs were also chopped off with some sharp weapons. The body parts were stuffed in polythene bags,” said Tophan Bag, sub-divisional police officer, Balangir.
Sources said Rinku had been living with his parents and younger brother in the rented house. His parents and brother were not present. The family members were in Vimsar, Burla, where Rinku’s father was admitted for the past few days.
