JAIPUR: The Border Security Force (BSF) seized a huge cache of 5 kg heroin having an estimated worth of over Rs 25 crore at the India-Pakistan border in Sriganganagar district on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off that a cache of narcotics was about to be smuggled into India from Pakistan through a drone, Border Security Force (BSF) jawans increased the surveillance at Nemichand Border Post falling under Rawla police station of Gharsana in Sri Ganganagar.
BSF Bikaner range DIG Pushpendra Singh Rathore said, "At around 2.30 am on Wednesday, troops witnessed a movement on the border. As troops could not see much, they fired 42 rounds after which the smugglers who had come to take the delivery, fled away."
He said later the jawans found a consignment of 2 bags with 5 kg heroin having an estimated value of over Rs 25 crore in the international market. Further investigation in the matter is on.
Rathore said earlier also BSF recovered 2.5kg heroin near Tina BOP, and recently behind Nemichand post caught two smugglers who came to take the delivery. Till now BSF has arrested six smugglers and seized heroin worth Rs 40 crore.
