Three burglars held, cash and jewellery worth lakhs seized

Prayagraj: The Bahariya police on Wednesday claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of burglars and arrested three of its key members.
The police have also seized Rs 17,000 cash and stolen gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from their possession. Those arrested were Abhishek Kumar alias Ashu, Lalji Pasi alias Lala and Deepak Kumar, all residents of Saraygani in Bahariya. Police said Lalji and his son Deepak were involved in a recent theft case wherein they along with their accomplice had stolen jewellery worth lakhs from the house of Rama Shankar Sahu in Saraygani locality. Following this, an FIR under sections 457 and 380 of IPC was registered.
Police said Lalji had a criminal sketch and as many as four criminal cases were pending against him with the Bahariya police. 73 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized: Joint teams of Kaushambi police and administration on Wednesday claimed to have seized 73 vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining and overloading.
SP (Kaushambi) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava told reporters the drive began on Tuesday night following a specific tip off. The exercise will continue in days to come.
