Under the project, the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNN) is constructing a 500-metre-long tunnel and a 250-metre-long flyover between Bihar Museum and Atal Path flyover. The tunnel will connect Bailey Road with Boring Canal Road and Daroga Rai Path. The estimated cost of the Lohia Path Chakra project is Rs 391 crore.
According to the engineers, about 85% of the civil work is done and only work on underpass near Boring Canal Road and the slab casting of flyover is underway, along with the finishing touches and ancillary works. It will be done in the next 40 days.
"Major structural work on the flyover and underpass is completed. Preparation is underway to cast the slab of the superstructure of flyover, which is the final work. Around 80% of shifting of drain has been done and work is going on the central box of underpass near Hartali Mor," the engineers said, adding three entry points of the underpass, near Bihar Museum, Pant Bhawan and Daroga Rai Path, is already completed while only 100-metre work is left near Boring Canal Road, which would be completed by June.
The 4-lane underpass will have signal-free access from Boring Road to Daroga Rai Path near Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) office and vice-versa. With the swap technology, people can change their lane and come out near Bihar Museum to travel towards Patna high court or they can also come out near Vishveswarya Bhawan to move towards Raja Bazar side by changing the lane.
People travelling from the underpass near Vishveswarya Bhawan will come out at Daroga Rai Path, or by taking U-turn they can come out at Bailey Road again. People travelling from the underpass near Bihar Museum will come out on Boring Road or by taking U-turn they will reach again on Bailey Road. Two service lanes are also constructed to connect Bailey Road with Daroga Rai Path and Boring Road.
The officials said once the project is completed, it will provide seamless traffic movement on Baily Road, Daroga Rai Path and Boring Road, and provide connectivity to different roads.
The six-lane elevated section is constructed using U-girders and 3 extradosed cable stayed structures while 2-metre space will be given on each side for the construction of footpath. Software-controlled solar lighting, landscaping and drainage system are parts of the project.
